What Is Quantitative Face Fit Testing Equipment?

It works by measuring the gaps between a mask's seal points and the wearer's facial features – in terms of the particle density within and without the mask – using an Ambient Particle Counting (APC) quantitative analysis method. The result is a numerical output that reports or quantifies how well the mask fits the wearer, allowing real-time adjustments.

The process ensures that masks are properly fitted so they provide adequate protection against airborne contaminants while identifying any leakages that could compromise the safety of the mask wearer. Quantitative Vs Qualitative Face Fit Testing

The alternative to quantitative testing is qualitative testing.

A qualitative test requires the user to detect the presence of particles in a solution to determine how effectively the mask fits the wearer, usually by taste. However, the main drawback of qualitative testing, and why a quantitative fit testing device is normally superior in terms of accuracy, is the dependence of qualitative testing on subjective taste detection in the subject, which can vary considerably between individuals and even between times of the day.
